Victim Care
Dungu has been a very peaceful village until late 2008 when armed groups entered the area and began killing, looting and harming the local population. As a result, many young children are orphaned, many are living with HIV and others are very poor and can’t handle life without help. Though the ministry cannot answer all their needs, our objective is to bring small changes that can help these people, with hope they can at some point take care of their own needs in the future. Care will address the following areas:
Spiritual - In many cases, these victims backslide spiritually and they often ask a question of “where was God when all these were happening to me”? The ministry organizes activities or actions in order to respond to spiritual needs or gaps.
Education - In partnership with the Mboligihe’s Scholarship Ministry, this ministry identifies the neediest students and provides them with an opportunity finish their primary education through the provision of scholarships.
Economic - The ministry does not have funds to answer all the needs of these victims, but through projects we can teach them things that will help them generate revenue. For example, teaching them how to do wood work, how to sew clothes, how to make soap, etc. are examples of training would provide (in partnership with Mboligihe’s ministry).
Trauma Counseling - Many people have experienced trauma from armed groups and are internally wounded. These people can only regain their normal lives if they get appropriate treatment. Together with the marriage counseling this ministry aims to help victims regain normalcy in their lives through personal counseling.
